Biography
After finishing fourth in the steeplechase and fifth in the marathon at the 1900 Olympics, Arthur Newton fared much better at the St. Louis Games. He took the bronze medal in both the steeplechase and the marathon and led the New York AC team to a one-point victory over the Chicago AA in the 4-mile team race. Newton also won the AAU five mile title in 1900, the steeplechase in 1902 and the AAU junior mile in 1900. Personal Bests: 5 miles – 27:41.4 (1900); Mar – unknown. |
