Mary Morton lived on the Monterey Peninsula most of her life and is known for her paintings of landscapes and seascapes. She was primarily a self-taught artist, but she did take courses at the Famous Artists School in Connecticut. Her artworks are known nationwide in collections in the United States, England, and Scotland. It is not known why she was listed as British in the 1948 Art Catalogue as she was born in Carmel, California, and lived and worked there.
