Biography

At 6-4 (1.93) and 210 lbs. (95 kg.), Ken Morrow is the prototype of an NHL defense man. He was a star at Bowling Green University where he was that school’s first hockey All-American, and named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s Player of the Year. But he was coveted by the New York Islanders who waited patiently while he played with the Olympic team. Morrow joined the Islanders immediately after the Olympics and made history The Islanders won the Stanley Cup in 1980 and Ken Morrow became the first American to play for an Olympic champion and a Stanley Cup champion. Morrow skated a regular shift with the Islanders, playing on four consecutive Stanley Cup championship teams. He played his entire NHL career with the Islanders, retiring in 1989. He has since been a scout and coach in the Islanders organization.
