Biography

Grandson of the wealthy industrial magnate, J. P. Morgan, John Morgan went to Yale, where he briefly played on the soccer team. He went into a career in investment banking, but still sailed frequently. mostly in ocean racing. Much of his racing has been with 1952 crew member, [Eric Ridder]. At the 1952 Olympics, Morgan was a crew member for [Herman Whiton] aboard Llanoria and sailed in all the races save one, when he was indisposed and Whiton’s wife, [Emelyn Whiton], took over Morgan’s place in the crew.
