Biography

Amadou Méité was a sprinter who ran the 100 metres up to the 400. He represented Côte d’Ivoire at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games, as well as at the 1978 All-Africa Games, where he won a gold medal in the 100 metres. His son Ben Youssef Méité also later competed at the 2012 Olympics. Amadou Méité won multiple national sprint titles, his last championship coming in the 1981 200 metres.
