Ross Martin was only the fourth Australian to compete at the Olympic Winter Games in cross-country skiing, which he did in 1968. In 1951, his father had begun an educational institution called Dominie, which supplied textbooks and school supplies in the northern beaches area of New South Wales, and Martin took over that business when his father retired in the early 1970s. Ross Martin was an avid sportsman, practising cycling, triathlons, and continuing to ski throughout his life. He died in a cycling accident while on a ride with the Hunter Valley Veterans’ Club. |
