Biography

Three-time Olympian artist Thies Luijt (1928, 1936, 1948) was a Dutch painter who received an Honorable Mention in London 1948 for his work Polo Game in the category Paintings / Mixed Paintings. He was an illustrator, water colorist, draftsman, painter, lithographer, interior designer, and political cartoonist. Luijt was educated at the Academy of Art in The Hague and at the Académie Julian in Paris. His main materials were water colors and oil with which he produced still lifes, landscapes, horse pictures, figure scenes, allegories and village scenes.
