Beginning in 1950, ice hockey forward James “Jim” Logan skated with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors of the Junior Ontario Hockey Association for four seasons. He advanced to his first senior level team in 1954 as a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen and won an Allan Cup, given annually to the Canadian senior men’s ice hockey champions, during his first year with the squad. This victory also gave the Dutchmen the opportunity to represent Canada in ice hockey at the 1956 Winter Olympics. At the tournament Logan played in eight games, scored seven goals, and took home a bronze medal for his country. When he returned to Canada he was slated to play with the Winnipeg Warriors of the Western Hockey League but, after 26 games, he was sold to the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League for cash in late December 1956. Logan, however, refused to report to the team and therefore missed most of the season, eventually getting in seven games with the Sudbury Wolves of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association. He played the next two full seasons with the team and then retired from active play for good in 1959. |
