Biography

A striker, Karel Lichtnégl débuted in the Czechslovakian League in 1957, with TJ Dynamo Praha. He would remain active through 1975, when he retired with KPS Brno, playing in the fourth tier of Czechoslovakian football at the time. His longest spell with a single team was with Zbrojovka Brno (then as RH Brno and Spartak Brno), for which he played 141 first league games, scoring 58 goals. During this period, he was also selected to play for the national team three times in friendly matches. In addition, he earned four "B" team caps, and played 14 matches for the Olympic team, including at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. There, he scored twice, helping earn Czechoslovakia a silver medal. In 1960, Lichtnégl won his only major prize, lifting the Czechoslovakian Cup with Red Star Brno.
