Biography

Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff, the daughter of Liselott Linsenhoff, first came to notice as a rider when she won a silver at the 1981 German Youth Championships and the 1981 European Youth Championship with her team, and also placing third in the single dressage event that year. Between 1987 and 1990 she was a runner-up all four years at the German Championships, and also won the 1987 European Champion with her German team, placing second in the individual event. After winning a team gold medal at the 1988 Olympics, she defended the European title in the team in 1989, and in 1990 won a World Championship, again in the team event. After the birth of her son (1992) and her daughter (2001) she again rode on a World Team Champion in 2002. She stopped competing in 2007 for health reasons. A veterinary doctor, she has since taken over several positions in sports administration and health organizations. She owns a foundation under the aegis of UNICEF (her horses are now surnamed Unicef), which receives all sponsorship and sale money from her horses. In January 2008 she became the first woman to be named to the presidental chair of Deutsche Sporthilfe, resigning in September 2008. In April 2008 she was named a Deputy Vice President of UNICEF.
