Árpád Lengyel had the following podium finishes at major championships: 3rd in the 1936 Olympics 4×200 metres Freestyle Relay; 1st in the 1934 European Championships 4×200 metres Freestyle Relay (with Ödön Gróf, Ferenc Csík, and the non-Olympian András Marothy), 3rd in the 1938 European Championships 100 metres Backstroke.
