Roland Lacombe was French amateur road champion in 1960 and placed sixth that year at the amateur world road championships. He was considered a contender for the 1960 Olympic road gold medal, but missed the final break, and finished 13th. After the Olympics he turned professional riding in the pro peleton from 1961-63 with only minor success, winning the 1962 Roubaix-Cassel-Roubaix. He rode in the 1963 Tour de France but did not finish and never made a podium in a major professional race. |
