José Larraín had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1951 Pan American Games dressage individual, 1st in the 1951 Pan American Games dressage team (with Héctor Clavel and Ernesto Silva), 1st in the 1959 Pan American Games dressage team (with César Mendoza and the non-Olympian José Melo), 3rd in the 1955 Pan American Games dressage individual.
