Biography

Eric Krenz was AAU champion in the discus in 1927 and 1929, and NCAA discus champion in 1928, representing Stanford. In 1929 he broke the world discus record with 48.90 (163-8¾) in a meet at Stanford. In 1930, competing in the California Intercollegiate Meet at Stanford, he bettered the world record twice during his series, with a fourth throw of 49.93 and a fifth throw of 51.03 (167-5⅜). He might have been the favorite for the 1932 Olympic discus but he tragically drowned in 1931 in a boating accident. Krenz had worked as an accountant for a San Francisco firm.

Personal Bests: SP – 15.63 (51-3½) (1930); DT – 51.03 (167-5⅜) (1930).
