Alf Konningen was one of the pioneers of alpine skiing in Norway. In 1934 he won the first ever downhill competition in his hometown of Kongsberg. He went to mid-Europe in 1935, competing in Germany and France to gain experience. After competing in the 1936 Olympics at age 34, he continued his work promoting alpine skiing, also winning a bronze medal in alpine combination at the first ever Norwegian Alpine Championships in 1938. He worked as a lathe operator in Kongsberg until his retirement. |
