Biography

Rosara Joseph combined athletic and academic skill, earning a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford, where she earned a Bachelor of Civil Law in 2006, after studying law at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. She later clerked for the Presidents of the New Zealand’s Court of Appeal, Justices Anderson and Glazebrook. Her academic awards at Canterbury and Oxford include the Duncan Cotterill Award in Law (2002), the Minter Ellison Rudd Watts Prize in Law (2003), the Russell McVeagh Prize for Excellence in Intellectual Property (2003), and the inaugural Gerald Orchard Prize in Law for Excellence in the Law of Evidence (2005). On the bike, Joseph won a silver medal in mountain biking at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and was Oceania Mountain Biking champion in 2005. She was also 16th at the 2005 World Championships.
