Greg Jones won the 1972 US downhill championship. He competed on the World Cup circuit from 1974-77, with top overall placements of 18th in 1975-76 and 19th in 1974-75, and in 1975-76 he ranked seventh in World Cup giant slalom. Jones won a bronze medal in the combined at the 1976 World Championships, contested as part of the Innsbruck Olympics. He skied briefly for the University of Colorado. In 1975 he won a giant slalom World Cup in Oberstdorf, Germany, placed second at the Madonna, Italy World Cup GS, and won three Europa Cup giant slaloms. In 1976 Jones won the Copper Mountain World Cup GS. He raced until he broke his ankle in 1979.
