Noboru Ito was a Japanese composer influenced by European avant-garde music of the 1920s and 1930s. He was also interested in Russian futurism. He analyzed the European composition techniques and stated that he adopted some of the most significant ones from the 1930s. He then composed a number of quite interesting experimental pieces, writing works for unusual instrument combinations such as 11 percussion instruments, piano, and celesta. Some of his works have never been performed.
