Biography

One of Malaysia's top track cyclists, Daud Ibrahim won two medals at the 1970 Asian Games, claiming gold in the keirin and bronze in the kilo time trial. The next year, he delighted the Kuala Lumpur crowd with five titles at the South East Asian (SEA) Games. Later, Ibrahim also represented his nation at the 1972 Olympics and 1974 Commonwealth Games. He was honored for his successes when he was picked to light the flame at the opening of the 2001 SEA Games. He died when he crashed into a truck in a midnight highway accident.
