Biography

Felicie Howell studied at the Women's School of Design in Philadelphia, and later taught in New York. She was Honolulu-born and spent much of her childhood in Athina, sketching and painting. She was a painter of oil and watercolor coastal landscapes, shore scenes, impressionistic nature figures, interiors, and marine scenes. Her favorite subjects were landscape paintings of the New England coasts. Howell was praised for her rich palette and ability to convincingly capture movement.
