George Hill was one of three New Zealanders who competed for Australasia at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 and was the only one of the three not to win a medal. The others were Malcolm Champion and Tony Wilding. Hill was the New Zealand national mile champion for three years to 1912 and the three-mile champion in the 1910-11 and 1911-12 seasons.
