Biography

Axel Hedenlund had a very short career, clearing 1.80 indoors in December 1907 as a virtual unknown, which bettered the Swedish national record. Two-and-half-months later he jumped 1.82 indoors to break the Scandinavian record. Before entering the 1908 Olympics Hedenlund competed at the British AAA Meet, finishing second to [Con Leahy]. After the Olympics Hedenlund won the Swedish national title. He competed for a few more years, but never again approached the heights he reached in 1907-08.
