Biography

From 1943 until 1954, András Harangvölgyi was a member of the Hungarian skiing team. He excelled in all Nordic disciplines, and won a total of 13 individual Hungarian titles in cross country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined. He competed internationally in the 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz and the 1954 World Championships in Falun. A 13th place with the relay team at the latter competition was his best result. Harangvölgyi retired from skiing after 1954, but continued competing in motocross, a sport in which he won eight national titles. Racing himself well into his forties, Harangvölgyi later became active as a coach. His son, András Jr. was later active as a mountain biker at a national level.
