Swedish painter Carl Mikael Gunne studied in Uppsala. In 1921 he joined the National Museum, whose collection of modern paintings and sculptures he later headed. He painted mainly city views of Stockholm and Uppsala, but also portraits of famous personalities. Gunne was an participant in the art competitions at the 1936 Olympic Games.
