Biography

American painter and illustrator Walter Granville Smith studied in Newark, New Jersey. He then started his artist career as a magazine illustrator, but later travelled to Europe (Netherlands, Belgium and France) and studied further in Paris. In those times he started painting landscapes and marine paintings. He was also well known throughout his career for painting in watercolors or oil, especially scenes of beautiful women doing domestic chores or attending leisurely or sporting events. After returning to the United States Granville-Smith settled on Long Island.
