Sam Graddy

Sam Graddy made his international début at the 1983 Pan American Games, where he was second in the 100 metres event and was a member of the gold medal winning USA 4×100 relay team (with the non-Olympians Bernie Jackson, Ken Robinson, and Elliott Quow). In 1984 Graddy won the US National Championships in the 100 and, as a University of Tennessee student, won the NCAA 100 m title. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Graddy was second behind Carl Lewis in the 100 and ran the first leg on the American 4×100 relay team, which won the gold medal with a world record of 37.83. After graduating from Tennessee Graddy played professional football with the Denver Broncos (1987-88) and the Los Angeles Raiders (1990-92).
