Biography

American Anne Goldthwaite was a regionally active painter in the US South, and an advocate of women's rights and equal rights. Although she moved early in her life to New York, she frequently visited her family in Alabama and almost exclusively painted local motifs and portraits of African-Americans from the deep South.
