Jack Garrity played hockey, baseball, and football for Medford High School in Massachusetts, graduating in 1944. He then served in the Army Air Corps before returning to play for the US at the 1948 Winter Olympics. After the Olympics, he returned to college at Boston University, twice making All-America and was an All-NCAA Tournament team selection in both 1951 and 1952. Garrity then had a long career playing for various amateur teams around Boston, beginning with the Boston Olympics in 1952 and the Worcester Warriors in 1955. He played senior hockey with teams in Brockton and Rockland, winning senior AHAUS titles with them in 1959 and 1960. He later became a hockey official and coach. Garrity was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 1986. |
