Biography

At the 1976 Montréal Olympics Dagmar Furhmann placed fifth in the final of the 4x400 relay and was eliminated in the second round of the 400 metres. She placed second with the European 4x400 relay team at the 1977 World Cup, and earned a gold medal in the 1973 European Indoor Championships in the 4x2 lap relay. Domestically she won two national titles over 400 m (1977 and 1978 indoors). Her daughter Kerstin also became a successful 400 m runner nationally. Dagmar Fuhrmann later worked as a clerk in a bank, but she continued in masters sports as a sprinter.
