Biography

Bud Friedrichs attended Tulane in his native New Orleans, where he later became a partner in a stockbrokerage firm. Friedrichs won numerous national and international championships, mostly in the Dragon class. In that class he won the 1967 World Championship; the 1965, 1966, and 1967 North American titles; and the 1966 European Championship. At the 1968 Olympics, with his fellow Louisianans, Barton Jahncke and Gerry Schreck, as his crew, he outclassed the opposition with four first and two second places in the six counting races.
