Barbara Friedrich was a javelin thrower who competed for Newark State College and the Shore Athletic Club in New Jersey. She was the 1967 Pan American Games gold medalist with the javelin and also won the AAU title in 1968 and the AIAW crown in 1971. She later became a physical education teacher.
