When Jaroslav Fikejz died at the age of 81, he still held the Czech long jump record for boys 15 and under, with 7.12 m. As a senior, he improved this mark to 7.41 m, then a Czechoslovakian Record. His biggest international achievement came in 1950, when he won the bronze medal in the European Championships. After his active career, Fikejz worked as a journalist (among other for "Atletika") and served as an official with the Czechoslovakian Athletics Federation. Personal Best: LJ – 7.41 (1948). |
