Gustavo Ehlers had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1951 Pan American Games 4×400 metres Relay (with Jaime Itlmann, Jörn Gevert, and the non-Olympian Martín). Ehlers also finished sixth in the 1951 Pan American Games 400 metres.
