Biography

A winger who primarily played on the left side, Bohuslav Ebermann was considered one of the fastest skaters ever, and was deadly on breakaways. In the Czechoslovakian leagues, he played for 12 seasons, appearing in 427 games and scoring 211 goals, while winning Czechoslovakian National titles in 1969 and 1970. Ebermann played for HC Škoda Plzeň from 1956-68 and again in 1970-81, but was with HC Dukla Jihlava from 1968-70. He finished his career with several seasons elsewhere in Europe, playing for Lausanne HC in Switzerland in 1981-83 and CSG Grenoble in France from 1983-88. Ebermann would eventually live several years in France, serving as a player/coach in the 1st French division as late as 1996, and later worked for a French designer firm based in Plzeň. He is best known in France for scoring six goals in a game against Français Volants Paris in the 1984-85 season. He also coached in the German league, serving as head coach of ESV Bayreuth in the 2000-01 season.

Internationally Ebermann earned 177 caps for Czechoslovakia, scoring 80 international goals. He played at the 1976 and 1980 Winter Olympics, winning silver in 1976, was on the 1976 runner-up Canada Cup team, and played in six World Championships for Czechoslovakia (1974-75, 1977-79, 1981), winning a gold medal in 1977, silver medals in 1974-75 and 1979, and a bronze medal in 1981.
