Biography

Henry Downes was the mate and his younger brother Arthur Downes a crew member aboard Hera that won the 12-metre class at the 1908 Olympics. Henry was an electrical engineer and a member of the leading Scottish clubs including the Royal Clyde Yacht Club and the Royal Western Yacht Club.
