Alfred Dompert won the steeplechase bronze medal at Berlin with his PR. He was German steeplechase champion in 1937, 1947 and 1950, and won a few other titles in other events. He later became a sports administrator in the Track and Field Association of Wurttemberg, and was a youth trainer in the Skiing Association of Schwaben. In 1956 he was awarded the Golden Needle of the German Track and Field Association and in 1950 was the first athlete to be awarded the Rudolf-Harbig-Gedächtnispreis (Memorial Award).
