Biography

At the 1950 British Empire Games John De Saram finished fourth in the 4×110 yards relay (with Duncan White and the non-Olympians Oscar Wijeyasinghe and Sumana Navaratnam) as well as in the 4×440 yards relay (with Duncan White and the non-Olympians A. Somapala and Oscar Wijeyasinghe) and was eliminated in the heats of the 220 yards.

Later Sri Lankan ambassador to the United Nations.
