Biography

Following his fifth place in the AAA mile in 1908 and 1911, Joe Cottrill improved to finish third in 1912. After winning the 1500 m at the 1912 British Olympic Trials he was eliminated in the heats in Stockholm, but set a new UK record for 3K when he led Britain to the bronze medals in the team race. He was the Northern mile champion in 1913.

Personal Bests: 1500 – 4:08.8 (1912); Mile – 4:22.2e (1912); 3000 – 8:46.8 (1912).
