Paolo Costoli had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1934 European Championships 400 metres Freestyle, 2nd in the 1934 European Championships 1500 metres Freestyle, 3rd in the 1931 European Championships 400 metres Freestyle, 3rd in the 1931 European Championships 1500 metres Freestyle, 3rd in the 1931 European Championships 4×200 metres Freestyle Relay (with Antonio Conelli and the non-Olympians Sirio Bianchini, Ettore Baldo), 3rd in the 1934 European Championships 4×200 metres Freestyle Relay (with the non-Olympians Massimo Costa, Giacomo Signori, and Guido Giunta).
