Biography

Defenseman Isabelle Chartrand’s career on the ice began a youngster, playing ringette, but quickly shifted to hockey. Her talent was such that, at the age of 16, she was a member of Team Quebec and the holder of a bronze medal from the 1995 Canada Games. Her skills continued to develop and in 1999 she took gold with Team Quebec at that season’s National Championships. The following year, she not only joined Team Canada, but also St. Lawrence University and its hockey team, which took a National Collegiate Athletic Association title that season. In 2001 she had her first opportunity for international play, winning gold with Team Canada at the World Championships, then followed this up with Olympic gold in 2002, where she played in five games and scored two goals in the hockey tournament. She took the following season off from the national team and began to focus her attention on inline hockey. In 2006 she was named head instructor at the Women's hockey school in London, Ontario.
