Edna Child had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1950 British Empire Games Springboard, 1st in the 1950 British Empire Games Platform; 3rd in the 1938 European Championships 3 metre springboard. In the British Empire Games she competed for England.

She married Ken Tinegate, a rower who represented England in the 1950 British Empire Games and won a bronze medal in the double sculls.
