Biography

Competing for the Crown Cities Track Club, Sharon Callahan won the 1968 US Olympic Trials in the high jump, while still a student at Whittier LaSerne High School in California. She also placed third that year in the AAU Championships in the high jump. Callahan's later husband, John McKniff, played basketball in college at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and their son, Chris McKniff, became a volleyball player at Southern Cal. Sharon Callahan worked as a paralegal and served as an assistant track coach at Sabino High School in Tucson.
