Biography

One of many Canadian born players in the 1924 British ice hockey team, Lorne Carr-Harris qualified for Great Britain through his English father and also by residence. A soldier stationed in the UK he was the goaltender of a successful Army side that formed the backbone of the British team in Chamonix. Although he was helpless to prevent crushing defeats against Canada and the USA, the British defeated all European opposition to take the bronze medal. He had strong family ties to the sport as his brother Brian played for Great Britain in the 1931 World Championship and his son, John Carr-Harris, played professionally for the Washington Lions of the American Hockey League.
