Biography

Laurence Bond made his only in the University Match in 1927 and the following season set a new UK record of 11-10¼ (3.61). In 1928 he also finished fourth in the World University Games in Paris. In 1930 he made three further improvements to the UK record and placed fifth at the Empire Games. On the outbreak of war, Bond have up an appointment as a pathologist in Southend to join the Emergency Medical Service. Soon after the transfer he underwent an operation for appendicitis which was followed by complications that led to his death, after a long illness.

Personal Best: 3.82 (12-6½) (1930).
