Danish painter Folmer Bonnén went to the Zahrtmann School from 1906-08 and débuted in 1907 at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition. In 1909 he co-founded the artist group De Tretten (The Thirteen). Bonnén painted with strong and bold coloring, later changing his palette in line with his support of a national art. He experimented with fresco and invented a new technique in which casein colours were painted on the cement. Beginning in 1918 he managed a private painting school.
