Bela Bodnar was of Hungarian heritage but was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. He competed in cross-country for the University of Wyoming. Bodnar placed fourth at the NCAA meet in cross-country skiing. He later became a high school coach in Anchorage, Alaska.
