Boris Blai studied at Auguste Rodin in Paris and later settled in the US as an art professor. He was a close friend of the last Czar Nicholas of Russia and had to leave the country shortly before the Revolution. He then was involved in the construction of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. His grandson Adam became a famous photographer in the U.S.
