Nort Billings was an avid outsdoorsman who grew up skiing and climbing in Colorado, eventually settling with his wife in Longmont, Colorado. In Longmont, he was very active in local business and civic affairs. He ran the Billings Electric Company, and helped wire many rural farms during the Rural Electrification Program. After selling the business in 1952, he helped organize the Mountain Savings and Loan Association, retiring from that bank as Vice-President and Director in 1965. He was a Longmont City Alderman from 1943-45, and helped write the Longmont Home Rule Charter. Billings was Building and Zoning Inspector in 1951 and was chairman of the Planning Commission in 1960.
