Mike Barrett

Mike Barrett went to college at West Virginia Tech, where he averaged 22 points for his career, and 27.7 ppg in his senior year. He later played AAU ball while he was in the Navy, leading the All-Navy team to the 1968 AAU title. It was with the Navy that he played for the U.S. at the 1967 World Championships and won a gold medal as a member of the 1968 Olympic team. Barrett then played three years in the now-defunct ABA, with Washington, Virginia, and San Diego. A 6-2 (1.88) guard, he was perfectly suited to that league as his long suit was the ability to burn it up from outside. In 1969-70, with Washington, he had his best year in pro basketball as he averaged 15 points per game, which was aided by his 62 3-point goals. He later became a successful business man in the Nashville, Tennessee area, but he also became a solid tennis player and competed nationally in masters' tennis events.
