Noted for popularizing biathlon in West Germany, Peter Angerer, won Olympic medals at three consecutive Games. His major titles include the Olympic gold in the 20 km event at the 1984 Games, and the 1983 overall World Cup. He also won 5 World Championship medals. At the 1986 World Championships, he was disqualified for having taken anabolic steroids. He only received a six-month suspension as the drug was contained in an anti flue medicine provided by his doctor. |
